Q. What is the best way to view the interactive content and read the Edtime Stories?

A. When a pop-up window appears, maximise the screen.

Q. Why are stories important?

A. Stories help us to connect with the hopes and fears of the whole human race. Stories take our emotions for a ride. Stories allow us to rehearse life by entering into characters’ thoughts and feelings, their plans and achievements. We root for them, suffer with them and rejoice with them.

A joke is a short story that makes us laugh. A parable is a story that helps us understand other people and the world around us. There are adventure stories, ghost stories, detective stories, mysteries, thrillers, stories with happy endings and stories with sad endings. Stories are part of our DNA. From the moment we are born, we are all part of a shared story - a story that never ends.

Q. Why is reading important?

A. Imagine what it would be like if you couldn’t read. If you couldn’t read your favourite author, read about your favourite celebrity, check what was on TV, read a bus timetable or the instructions on how to use a new computer game, you would be lost. And you would have to rely on other people to help you through life. But when you can read, the world is your oyster. Reading opens doors. And the more you read, the better you become at reading and the more fun it is. It’s as simple as that.
